It's not like party games. Party games are great, but they are fly by nights. And light games, filler games are also great, but they kind of, again, fly by nights.

And, again, if you like euros as much as we do, and I hope you do, these are the top heaviest euros that we want to let you all know about, the ones you should have, the ones that alter the time and space fabric in which we all live, at least in the tabletop cardboard space universe in which we live in this dimension. And we're gonna talk a lot about those because, again, these are the games that we love. We get some excellent playtime and are gonna be great at the table no matter where you are.

So I have a bunch of those from the first campaign, which is like all the named characters. This batch is more like enemies and NPCs and stuff that you'd run into.

And one of the things that makes it unique is you have, like, these knights radiant and there are these several different chapters of them.

Well, Anthony, we also got some other previews to talk about, so we're gonna roll some dice and see what we get here. First up is a game that you and I both like very much so. This is Andromeda's Edge, and this is the expansion Genesis from Cardboard Alchemy. This is this has been for me, Anthony, at the very least. Surprisingly I I guess maybe not surprising.

But I feel like there's so much flavor and diamondism to, like, the colors and the actions you take and the things you build and the tracks. And, like, you do feel like you're in space, and you do feel like these giant creatures are kind of attacking you.

So you get three new factions. You get the precog hybrids, which is a really cool look and a really cool idea. We'll see how that plays out.

I love the idea of that kind of and I think there's also I think you're gonna have an opportunity to choose, which is great.

Magnetic dinos that stay in place, neoprene mats, new game content, and rebalance rules, which kinda concerns me because it didn't have a problem with the rules before, but now I need to look at this, kinda more deeply. So Dinosaur Island. We've talked about this a lot. I played it, liked it so much that I did I I got I think when they came out with the expansion, the water kind of dinosaurs, Totally Liquid, I backed everything because I really liked it that much. This is one of my favorite games to bring to game night because the way the game is set up, it literally tells you what to do in each phase.

I'll have to look a little deeper into this. But this campaign, unlike the Andromeda's Edge one, does have some more time to it. This will back on Friday, 10/10/2025. So you do have some more time to look at. That being said, if you do have the resources and you do want an awesome game and you like magnets, I would I would recommend picking this up unless you can pick up the base unless you can pick up the original version, which, again, I don't think you're losing anything out.

Mar Marvel United, which is the one everybody has access to, and now DC United, is a cooperative game in which you play one of the heroes in that universe.

You also have poison ivy infected Superman, which is kinda cool.

Trecarion Legends of Illusion is all about magicians performing, magic tricks in this Victorian steampunk age. This is one of the games I was really fascinated by. This was also a crowdfunded game. And since then, they've had a couple of expansions, and they've had a second edition that has, you know, upgraded x, y, and z's in it. But primarily, what you're looking at is, in my opinion, like the steampunk game.

And one of the great elements of the game is it gives you a, kind of a player guide rule book where you can actually see what the different tricks require, and you can kind of strategically put that together along with your different, you know, assistants that are gonna support you along with, upgrading their powers and their abilities and going to different places and towns and different tricks. So there is a breadth of complexity here.

So it has a lot of those elements of, like, the asymmetry of, like, Root because you have to know how everyone plays.

And to do that, you have to take a bevy of different actions, which are gonna allow you to build new buildings, put new bots out, put supplies in your warehouse, upgrade buildings with blueprints, take scientists and contracts, welcome new ships, explore the planet's surface, and that's only on the planet. Then you can go back to the the space station orbit and do stuff up there. So there's a lot of different actions.

And it is about a alternate history, dystopian nineteen thirties in which we are trying to build out these power plants, through hydroelectric power to to overcome the the lack of other resources that we have available.

But ultimately, what you're doing is you are building the different parts of a dam on this board and you are manipulating the flow of water in ways that is absolutely gonna mess with the other people.

You're gonna focus on energy production so other people can draw from your energy and you get bonuses from that. And then, on top of that, if you wanna build something, you have to put it into this little wheel and you have to load up all your workers into that wheel and those workers are not available until they come back around on the wheel.

So you are balancing all these different elements in what is like technically a fairly straightforward worker placement game, but also not at all. And the first couple times I played it, I was like, I don't understand how I'm supposed to do any of this as efficiently as I need to do it to accomplish all of my goals. And as you play through it, it starts to unravel its mysteries, I guess. And part of it comes in the asymmetry of the characters and leaning into those abilities, and part of it comes into, like, the upgrades and abilities and the things that you can pick up throughout the game. But part of it's just being as efficient as you possibly can, which is the sure sign of a of a really heavy game.

Again, this is the quintessential iconic, you know, when people talk about heavy euro games, especially back in the day, this is the game that everyone was talking about. It is seemingly as abstract as all get out with a bunch of different colored cubes and a bunch of cones, and that's the game. And yet the box looks like the most Amerithrash hardcore metal album cover of all time. Dominant species, man.

And primarily, that's all about spreading out your species, gaining new special abilities, getting food and resources, and avoiding a ton of really chaotic cards that can come into play. If you have not played this, you owe it to yourself to play it. It is not as daunting as it looks. There's a four point o four out of five on BGG, but every point here is worth an opportunity.

So they are are killing it on the heavy games. Artwork by Ian O'Toole, because again, I don't know if this game would work without the artwork of Ian O'Toole, because there is so much iconography. And it somehow becomes its own language and it's very clear by the end, which is amazing.

It depends on how much you're trying to accomplish and how complex of an action you wanna take. And that it it really it it reminds me of a game like Mage Knight, right?

And it it's kind of hard to even talk about because the game is so crunchy and dynamic because there are really, what it comes down to in a large part is it's the euro game with, like, a really sinister Amerithrash clash kind of flavor to it. It weighs 4.19. Obviously, the new edition might be a little bit more or less depending on what you kind of feel. Again, this came out in 02/2015, at least the original version came out.

Because again, certain foods might be wanted in certain areas, and then you have to kind of manage that.

All the artwork is really dynamic. This is where splotter really kind of blew up as far as, like, their artistic flavor is concerned. Now the deluxe super deluxe model here, it's gonna have a whole bunch of plastic to it. But the original 2,015 version is so colorful and bright and dynamic, and the artwork is on point.

And then next thing you know, you're up, you're down, the food changes, the marketing changes, everything changes at the same time. A really hard, challenging, dynamic game that is a lot of fun.

If you want it a little slightly easier as far as, like, making things a little more, palatable to get things out there, you can play the expansion, which is the catch up mechanic, literally the catch up mechanic, which is also a lot of fun and really opens the game up and gives you a lot of other modules to kinda, you know, put into play. So, food chain magnet, and again, also the expansion, Food Chain Magnet, the catch up mechanism, and other ideas. Love the title there for their expansion that came out in 02/2019. Anthony, it is the crunchiest game that we have ever crunched as far as crunchy games are concerned.
