从周一开始,美国造币厂开始发行特别的新季度硬币,以纪念美国建国二百五十周年。

Starting on Monday, the US Mint began to circulate special new quarters commemorating the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Speaker 1

其中有一枚五月花号硬币,描绘了清教徒,今年晚些时候还将推出围绕独立战争、《独立宣言》和葛底斯堡演说的设计。

There is a Mayflower quarter featuring pilgrims and others coming later this year include designs around the revolutionary war declaration of independence and Gettysburg address.

Speaker 1

托比,你还记得他们发行50州纪念币系列的时候吗?

Toby, remember when they did that 50 state quarter series?

Speaker 1

我当时特别投入,还专门有个收藏册,什么都齐全。

I was so locked in, had my own collection book, and everything.

Speaker 2

你这话是我听你说过的最不让人惊讶的事了。

That's the least surprising thing I've ever heard out of you.

Speaker 2

发现新硬币确实有趣,但我现在正努力回想上一次使用或查看硬币是什么时候。

It was fun discovering new coins, but I am sitting here trying to remember the last time I even used a coin or looked at a coin.

Speaker 2

而且,不幸的是,我认为它被用作高尔夫球场上的球印,而这并不是它的本意。

And, unfortunately, I think it was as a ball mark on the golf course, which is it's not its intended purpose.

Speaker 2

此外,作为美国建国250周年纪念活动的一部分,有人推动发行一枚印有特朗普肖像的硬币。

Also, as part of the America two fifty rollout, there's been a push for a Trump coin that has his image on it.

Speaker 2

美国造币厂在其网站上公布了完整的设计方案。

The Mint has a full design proposal on its website.

Speaker 2

唯一的问题是,一个有趣的事实是:联邦法律实际上禁止任何在世人物出现在美国货币上。

Only issue there and sort of a fun fact, federal law actually prohibits any living person from being on US currency.

Speaker 2

所以,尼尔,你希望拥有的那枚MBD硬币,还是来生再努力吧。

在一次导致委内瑞拉总统尼古拉斯·马杜罗被捕的军事行动后,特朗普似乎想把世界当作一场大型风险游戏,将目光投向了冰封的格陵兰岛。

After a military operation that resulted in the capture of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro, Trump looks keen to to treat the world like a big game of risk, setting his eyes on the icy island of Greenland.

Speaker 2

政府内部有多人明确表示,目前正积极推动收购格陵兰岛——该岛在过去一个世纪里一直是丹麦王国的自治领土。

Multiple people within the administration have made it clear that the push is on to acquire Greenland, which has been an autonomous territory within the kingdom Of Denmark for most of the century.

Speaker 2

但总统高级顾问史蒂芬·米勒昨日对CNN表示,如果美国愿意,完全可以强行夺取这一半自治领土。

But Stephen Miller, a top aide to the president, told CNN yesterday that The US could seize the semi autonomous territory if it wanted to.

Speaker 2

米勒说:‘没人会为了格陵兰的未来而与美国军队对抗。’

Nobody's gonna fight the United States military over the future of Greenland, Miller said.

Speaker 2

国务卿马可·卢比奥随后对此立场有所缓和,据称他在一次关于委内瑞拉的国会简报中表示,特朗普总统计划购买格陵兰,而非入侵它。

Secretary of state Marco Rubio backed down a little from that stance, reportedly telling some congressional lawmakers in a briefing about Venezuela that president Trump plans to buy Greenland rather than invade it.

Speaker 2

特朗普总统多次公开表示,他‘非常认真地考虑收购格陵兰’,并坚称美国绝对需要它来保障国家安全。

President Trump has been an open book on the topic repeatedly stating his, quote, very serious about acquiring Greenland, arguing that The US is absolutely needs it for national security.

Speaker 2

当然,地缘政治不是风险游戏,你不能掷个骰子就占领一块领土。

Now, of course, geopolitics isn't a game of risk, and you can't just roll some die and take over a territory.

Speaker 2

格陵兰、丹麦以及欧洲各地的官员都对美国的主张提出了反驳,格陵兰总理明确拒绝将格陵兰与委内瑞拉相提并论,称美国不能简单地征服格陵兰。

Officials in Greenland, Denmark, and across Europe have pushed back on any US claims with Greenland's prime minister explicitly rejecting comparisons to Venezuela saying The United States cannot simply conquer Greenland.

Speaker 2

我们是一个民主国家,多年来一直保持民主制度。

We are a country that is democratic and has been democratic for many years.

Speaker 2

丹麦也是北约盟友,促使法国、德国、意大利、波兰、西班牙、英国和丹麦的领导人联合发表声明,称只有格陵兰和丹麦的人民才能决定该岛的未来。

Denmark is also a NATO ally, prompting the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, the UK, and Denmark to jointly release a statement saying that only the people of Greenland in Denmark can decide the island's future.

Speaker 2

自特朗普重返执政以来,这个话题一直在幕后持续发酵。

Now this story has been sort of simmering in the background since Trump regained office.

Speaker 2

但在委内瑞拉事件之后,这个问题显得更加紧迫。

But after Venezuela, it feels a lot more pressing.

Speaker 2

美国想要格陵兰做什么?

What does The US want with Greenland?

Speaker 1

嗯,那里有两个主要的商业利益。

Well, there are two main commercial interests there.

Speaker 1

一个是航运路线。

One is shipping routes.

Speaker 1

格陵兰位于大西洋和北冰洋之间的战略要地。

So Greenland sits in a very strategic location next to the Atlantic and the Arctic.

Speaker 1

冰层正在融化,将开通大量新的航运路线。

There is ice melting, and there's going to be a lot of new shipping lanes that are being opened.

Speaker 1

特朗普表示,中国和俄罗斯的船只已准备就绪,意图掌控这条航运通道,这条通道相比苏伊士运河能大幅缩短从亚洲到欧洲的航行时间。

And Trump is saying that there's a lot of Chinese and Russian ships at the ready to take over this shipping lane which is going to reduce a lot of the time it takes to go from Asia to Europe when compared to the Suez Canal.

Speaker 1

因此,除了航运利益,还有矿产资源这一角度。

So there's the shipping angle and then there's also the mineral deposits angle.

Speaker 1

格陵兰蕴藏着大量用于智能手机、笔记本电脑和电动汽车的关键稀土矿物。

Greenland is sitting on a host of critical rare earth minerals that go into things like smartphones and laptops and electric vehicles.

Speaker 1

我们实际上并不清楚具体储量,因为当地环境过于恶劣,尚未进行开采或勘探。

We actually don't know how much is there because it just hasn't been mined or surveyed because the landscape is so harsh.

Speaker 1

但昨天,许多稀土矿物和矿业公司的股票在市场大幅上涨。

But you did see a lot of rare earth minerals and mining companies surge on the stock market yesterday.

Speaker 1

Critical Metals Group 周二股价上涨了约25%。

Critical Metals Group jumped about 25% on Tuesday.

Speaker 1

他们在格陵兰南部有一个稀土项目。

They have a rare earth project in Southern Greenland.

Speaker 1

然后你看看能源转型矿物公司,它在格陵兰还有一个稀土项目,股价上涨了30%以上。

Then you look at Energy Transition Minerals, which has another rare earth project in Greenland that climbed more than 30%.

Speaker 1

因此,即使投资者有些操之过急,他们对美国在稀土矿物开采方面对格陵兰产生更多商业兴趣的前景仍感到兴奋,而这些稀土矿物目前由中国控制。

So even if investors are getting ahead of themselves, they are somewhat hyped at the prospect of The US having more commercial interest in mining Greenland for rare earth minerals that are right now controlled by China.

Speaker 2

近年来,格陵兰的经济也一直不太景气。

Greenland has also been having a rough go of it in terms of their economy of late.

Speaker 2

他们严重依赖丹麦的补贴,同时也严重依赖渔业,尤其是虾类捕捞。

They are heavily dependent on, you know, subsidies from Denmark, but they're also heavily dependent on the fishing industry, especially shrimp.

Speaker 2

他们的经济主要不是靠稀土矿物。

Most of their economy is not rare earth minerals.

Speaker 2

实际上就是捕捞虾类,而最近他们的捕捞情况很糟糕。

It's actually just fishing for shrimp, and they've had a tough harvest of late.

Speaker 2

那里的虾类资源正在减少,因此去年他们的经济仅增长了0.8%。

Shrimp stocks are declining there, so their economy grew only 0.8% in the last year.

Speaker 2

他们还面临着一场人口危机。

They're also having a bit of a demographic crisis.

Speaker 2

这个岛上只有5.7万人居住。

Only 57,000 people live on this island.

Speaker 2

这是世界上最大的岛屿,但显然这里环境极其恶劣,因此人口不多。

It's the biggest island in the world, but, obviously, it's a very harsh place to live, so their population is not big.

Speaker 2

人口也没有增长。

It's also not growing.

Speaker 2

预计到2050年,人口将下降20%。

It's expected to decline by 20% by 2050.

Speaker 2

因此,有些人认为,格陵兰人民或许有自身利益驱动,希望有一个更强大的经济后盾,适度多元化经济,减少对虾类养殖的过度依赖。

So there are some people saying that maybe it is in the vested interest of the people of Greenland to have a larger economic force at your back, maybe diversifying your economy a bit and allowing it to get away from just relying on shrimp farming.

Speaker 1

是的,那么格陵兰人民真正想要的是什么?

Yeah, so what do the people of Greenland actually want?

Speaker 1

对于这片5.7万人的领土,已经进行过一些民意调查。

Well there are opinion polls of this territory of 57,000 people.

Speaker 1

以往的民意调查显示,格陵兰人强烈反对美国的控制,但同时绝大多数人支持从丹麦独立。

Opinion polls have previously shown that Greenlanders, they overwhelmingly oppose United States control, but at the same time a big majority support independence from Denmark.

Speaker 1

他们曾多次投票决定是否要从丹麦独立,而丹麦也对此表示反对,但与此同时,整个欧洲都在反对美国收购格陵兰这一做法。

So they have voted numerous times on whether they want to be independent from Denmark, and Denmark has also pushed back on that, but at the same time a lot of Europe, all all of Europe is pushing back on the fact that The United States should acquire it.

Speaker 1

他们说,格陵兰不是待售品。

They say it's not for sale.

Speaker 1

他们显然反对军事干预,这将是对一个北约盟友前所未有的攻击。

They obviously oppose military intervention and what would be an unprecedented attack on a NATO ally.

Speaker 1

与此同时,预测市场正评估特朗普总统及其政府近期对委内瑞拉总统的罢黜所展现出的帝国主义倾向进一步扩大的可能性增大。

Meanwhile prediction markets are pricing in a a greater chance of president Trump and the Trump administration really expanding this imperial vibe that they've been going off lately with the ouster of Venezuela's president.

Speaker 1

美国通过某种方式掌控巴拿马运河——这一关键航运通道——以及格陵兰的可能性正在上升。

Odds are shooting up that The United States is going to somehow take control of the Panama Canal, that critical shipping route, as well as Greenland.

Speaker 1

因此,我们将拭目以待会发生什么,但似乎在政府内部,要求采取行动获取格陵兰的呼声正在增加。

So we will see what happens here, but it seems like, at least in the administration, there are growing calls to do something to acquire Greenland.

Speaker 1

在X上刷屏从不会让你对人性感到乐观,但如今它简直让你心里发沉。

Scrolling on X never makes you feel good about humanity, but these days it downright gives you a pit in your stomach.

Speaker 1

这是因为最近几周,用户一直在要求X的AI聊天机器人Grok对女性甚至未成年人的照片进行数字裸体处理,而Grok也欣然照办。

That's because in recent weeks, users have been asking X's AI chatbot, Grok, to digitally undress pictures of women, even minors, which Grock has been happy to oblige.

Speaker 1

X平台上非自愿性图像的传播引发了全球各国政府的愤怒和调查。

The spread of nonconsensual sexual imagery across X has drawn outrage and investigations from governments around the globe.

Speaker 1

以下是这些情况最常见的发展过程。

Here's how most of these situations have played out.

Speaker 1

用户会截取一名女性在X上发布的照片,输入类似'Grok,给她穿上比基尼'的指令,Grok便会生成一张满足用户要求的AI图像。

A user will take a photo that a woman's posted to X, type in something like, Grock, put her in a bikini, and Grock will generate a new AI image fulfilling the user's request.

Speaker 1

通常,这些深度伪造图像的受害者会要求Grok删除这些图片。

Often, the subject of these deepfakes have asked Grock to remove these images.

Speaker 1

有时X会删除这些图片,但其他时候,它会回应称这些内容并未违反任何准则。

Sometimes X has deleted them, but other times, it responds that they don't violate any guidelines.

Speaker 1

各国政府正要求X停止这种行为,否则将面临后果。

Governments are telling X to stop this practice or face consequences.

Speaker 1

英国科技大臣莉兹·肯德尔称这一情况'令人极度震惊',并表示媒体监管机构正在紧急调查此事,她全力支持监管机构采取任何必要执法行动。

UK technology secretary Liz Kendall called the situation, quote, absolutely appalling and that the media watchdog is, quote, looking into this as a matter of urgency, and it has my full bay backing to take any enforcement action it deems necessary.

Speaker 1

欧盟、印度和马来西亚等地也已展开调查,美国两党议员均谴责Grok的最新行为,称其可能违法。

Other places like the EU, India, and Malaysia have also launched investigations, and US lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have condemned Grock's latest actions, calling them potentially illegal.

Speaker 1

托比,埃隆·马斯克对他平台上的这些情况有何回应?

Toby, how's Elon Musk responding to what's going on on his platform?

Speaker 2

起初,埃隆对这一趋势整体上持一种调侃的态度。

Initially, Elon was kind of responding with amusement at the trend as a whole.

Speaker 2

如果你回看周五,他曾对一张烤面包机穿着比基尼的照片回应,用的是他标志性的笑哭表情符号。

If you go back to Friday, he responded to a picture of a toaster wearing a bikini and with his classic laughing, crying emoji.

Speaker 2

但随着事态升级,这种行为在他所拥有的平台上变得越来越普遍,他确实表示,任何使用Grok生成非法内容的人,将面临与直接上传非法内容相同的后果,基本上就是说:

But then as it kind of escalated and this became a more prevalent practice across the platform that he owns, he did say that anyone using Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they uploaded illegal content, basically saying that, hey.

Speaker 2

我们会在这个问题上变得严肃一点。

We're gonna get a little bit more serious on this topic.

Speaker 2

但对许多法律教授和学者而言,其合法性仍处于灰色地带,他们认为第230条是互联网的基石。

But the legality of it is a gray area for a lot of kind of legal professors and scholars who say that section two thirty is basically the bedrock of the Internet.

Speaker 2

记住,第230条是一项法律,为在线平台提供了对其用户发布大部分内容的广泛豁免权。

Remember, section two thirty is a law that gives broad immunity to online platforms for most of the content published by its users.

Speaker 2

但当平台本身,即Grok,与X平台合二为一时进行发布,那么它就可能承担责任,从而使埃隆和X公司负有法律责任。

But when the platform itself, in this case, Grok is kind of one in the same with the platform that is X, is doing the posting, then it is potentially liable, and it does make Elon and X liable.

Speaker 2

因此,这是一个非常有趣的法律案例,因为这些有害内容正在产生,但它们究竟来自谁呢?

So it is a very interesting, you know, legal case because these harmful outputs are coming, but who are they coming from?

Speaker 2

用户和平台同时在发布这些内容。

The user and the platform at the same time.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

美国现在有一项法律。

There is a law in The United States now.

Speaker 1

实际上,特朗普总统去年签署了这项法律。

Actually, president Trump signed it last year.

Speaker 1

它被称为《删除法案》,禁止未经同意在网上发布任何年龄段人士的私密影像。

It's called the Take It Down Act, and that prohibits the nonconsensual online publication of intimate visual depictions of individuals of all ages.

Speaker 1

该法律由联邦贸易委员会执行,但直到2026年5月才全面生效,这进一步加剧了美国境内这一法律灰色地带的复杂性。

That's enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, but that law does not fully go into effect until May 2026, further complicating the legal gray area that is here in The United States.

Speaker 1

至少在英国,创建或分享非自愿的亲密图像或儿童性虐待内容是非法的,无论这些内容是否由人工智能生成。

At least in Britain, creating or sharing nonconsensual intimate images or child sexual abuse material is illegal, whether that's generated by AI or not.

Speaker 1

所以,如果我说X和埃隆·马斯克不采取行动阻止这些图像的传播,看起来政府将会严厉打击。

So you if I would say if X and Elon Musk don't take action to stop the spread of these images, looks like governments are going to crack down.

Speaker 1

我只是想分享一下这个问题的规模。

And I just want to share the scale of this.

Speaker 1

如果你在X上,你会觉得这太疯狂了。

It does seem if you're on X, you're like, this is crazy.

Speaker 1

我看到的几乎都是这类内容。

This is like pretty much everything I'm seeing.

Speaker 1

研究人员在对Grok账号在X上发布的图像进行24小时分析后,证实了这一点。

And researchers have corroborated this during a twenty four hour analysis of images that Grok account posted to X.

Speaker 1

该聊天机器人每小时生成约6700张被识别为具有性暗示或裸露性质的图像。

That chatbot generated about 6,700 of these images every hour that were identified as sexually suggestive or nudifying.

Speaker 1

根据深度伪造研究者吉娜维芙·奥的说法,这种深度伪造的规模是前所未有的。

That's according to the deepfake researcher Genevieve Oh, who called the scale of this deepfake unprecedented.

Speaker 2

顺便说一下,这不仅仅是埃隆·马斯克的一个副项目。

And by the way, this is not just an Elon Musk side project.

Speaker 2

就在这一争议在互联网上蔓延的同时,XAI刚刚以2300亿美元的估值融资了200亿美元。

XAI, in the same breath that this controversy was spreading across the Internet, just raised $20,000,000,000 at a $230,000,000,000 valuation.

Speaker 2

因此,我们在这里谈论的是他帝国中一个庞大的部分,它正在传播这些性暗示内容。

So this is a massive part of his empire that we are talking about here that is distributing, you know, this sexually explicit material.

Speaker 1

接下来,美国航空希望这是它最后一次不得不坐在儿童桌旁过感恩节。

Moving on, American Airlines wants this to be the last Thanksgiving it has to eat at the kids table.

Speaker 1

该航空公司宣布,到明年年初,其忠诚度计划会员将能在几乎所有航班上免费使用高速Wi-Fi,而加入该计划是免费的。

The carrier announced it would be offering free high speed WiFi on nearly all of its flights by early spring to its loyalty program members, which doesn't cost anything to sign up for.

Speaker 1

免费Wi-Fi?

Free Wi Fi?

Speaker 1

你可能并不会觉得有多惊喜。

You might be less than whelmed.

Speaker 1

作为一家拥有百年历史、航班数量最多的航空公司,美国航空难道不应该早就提供这项服务了吗?

Shouldn't American, the century old airline offering more flights than any other, already have that?

Speaker 1

嗯。

Aye.

Speaker 1

问题就在这里。

There is the rub.

Speaker 1

美国航空正被联合航空和达美航空甩在身后,这两家公司通过聚焦高端客户、信用卡合作和奢华体验(即如今航空业真正的盈利方式)与竞争对手拉开了差距。

American is being left in the chemtrails by United and Delta, which have distanced themselves from the pack by focusing on premium customers, credit card partnerships, and luxury experiences, aka how you actually make money in the airline business these days.

Speaker 1

以去年前九个月为例,达美航空盈利了38亿美元。

Consider the first nine months of last year, Delta made a profit of $3,800,000,000.

Speaker 1

联合航空盈利了23亿美元,而美国航空仅勉强赚了1200万美元。

United made a profit of 2,300,000,000.0, but American eked out just 12,000,000.

Speaker 1

这意味着它仅占美国三大航空公司总利润的2%。

That means it accounts for a measly 2% of the profits of the three biggest US airlines.

Speaker 1

这一点也反映在各家公司的股价上。

And that's reflected in each company's stock price.

Speaker 1

达美航空市值为470亿美元,联合航空为380亿美元,而美国航空仅值100亿美元。

Delta is worth 47,000,000,000, United 38,000,000,000, but American is worth just $10,000,000,000.

Speaker 1

事实上,美国航空的估值还不如Joby Aviation,这是一家营收为零的电动空中出租车公司。

In fact, American is worth less than Joby Aviation, which is an electric air taxi company with zero revenue.

Speaker 1

天啊,美国航空处境惨淡,必须尽快提升自己,才能在主流市场中竞争,而它认为免费Wi-Fi是起步点之一。

Toby, American is down bad and it needs to get its act together to compete in the major leagues, and it thinks free WiFi is one place to start.

Speaker 2

没错。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

这在一定程度上是美国航空的宣传问题,因为我读了一些行业出版物,它们指出,实际上美国航空完全可以说清楚:嘿。

This is partially a messaging issue for American because I was reading some industry publications, and they were saying that essentially there's nothing stopping American from telling the story that, hey.

Speaker 2

我们现在提供的服务设施将与达美航空和竞争对手看齐,但它根本没怎么讲好这个故事。

We are gonna be on par with a lot of the amenities that Delta and the competitors are offering right now, but it just hasn't done a very good job of telling that story at all.

Speaker 2

它过去曾以可靠性和庞大的规模为傲,认为这是客户在旅行体验中最看重的。

It also used to hang its hat on reliability and just the sheer scale of it, and they thought that's what customers wanted most of all out of their travel experiences.

Speaker 2

但事实证明这种想法是错误的,客户真正想要的是舒适的座椅、高端休息室,以及能让旅行体验显得高端、迎合这些高消费客户的体验。

That has proved to be misguided because what they really want is nice seats and premium lounges and just something that makes the travel experience feel upscale catering to these, you know, big spending customers.

Speaker 2

而且,问题还在于美国航空最近的可靠性也不怎么样。

And also the issue is that American hasn't even been very reliable of late.

Speaker 2

如果你回看去年,他们在准点到达率方面在十大美国航空公司中排名第九。

If you go back to last year, they ranked ninth out of 10 US airlines for on time arrivals.

Speaker 2

他们在J.D. Power北美航空公司满意度评分中排名垫底。

They ranked last in J.

Speaker 2

J.

D.

Speaker 2

D. Power北美航空公司满意度评分。

Power North American airline satisfaction rating.

Speaker 2

所以,连他们的基本业务都没做好。

So it wasn't even doing its bread and butter well.

Speaker 2

因此,现在他们试图说,嘿。

So now it's trying to say, like, hey.

Speaker 2

我们会赶上。

We're gonna get on par.

Speaker 2

我们会提供这些相同的便利设施。

We're we're gonna offer these same amenities.

Speaker 2

只要你们愿意给我们一个机会,我们就没有任何理由不能和达美航空一样优秀。

There's nothing stopping us from being just as good as Delta if you'll only, you know, give us a chance.

Speaker 1

我认为一个很好的例子就是机背屏幕这个概念。

Well, I think a good example of this is the concept of seat back seats.

Speaker 1

几个月前,联合航空大张旗鼓地宣布,他们将在765架飞机上加装146,000块机背屏幕。

So a few months ago, United Airlines did this whole hoo hoo hoo and said, we are gonna add 146,000 seat back screens on 765 of their jets.

Speaker 1

随后,他们的首席商务官将此视为对美国航空的暗讽,称这些屏幕是定义美国高端航空公司的方法之一,因为美国航空决定不进行这项投资,理由是:乘客们已经带着iPad和iPhone登机了,何必再需要屏幕呢?

And what the chief commercial officer then said was sideswipe at at American said, these screens are one way of defining a premium airline in The United States because American decided not to do that investment and said, look, people are coming onto our planes with their iPads and their iPhones and why would they need a screen?

Speaker 1

但看起来,如果你想成为一家高端航空公司,就必须配备机背屏幕,因为这关乎你想要营造的整体奢华氛围,而美国航空在过去十年里一直没能做到这一点——随着航空业整体转向服务顶级的1%高端客户,其他乘客则被逐渐忽视,因为那不是他们的利润来源。

But it just seems like if you wanna be a premium airline, then you have to have a seat back screen because it's just the overall vibe of luxury that you wanna create that American has not been doing over the past ten years as the airline industry has basically shifted entirely to serving the 1% premium customers and let let everyone else kind of fall by the wayside just because that's not where they're making their money.

Speaker 2

我们在这段对话中对美国航空确实有点苛刻了,所以我想给他们一点肯定。

We've been pretty mean to America in this segment, so I do wanna throw them a bone.

Speaker 2

他们去年做的一项运营调整带来了显著成效:将登机时间延长了五分钟,也就是更早开启登机口,提醒乘客提前到达。

One operational change that they made last year that has proved dividends was increasing their boarding time by five minutes, essentially opening the gate earlier and telling people to arrive earlier.

Speaker 2

这减少了乘客登机时的拥堵问题。

That reduced bottlenecks of passengers getting on board.

Speaker 2

这导致自5月1日起,登机口托运行李的数量下降了25%。

That resulted in a 25% drop in gate checked bags dating back to May 1.

Speaker 2

所以他们某种程度上是在说,我们正努力减少旅行中的不便。

So they are kind of saying we're trying to reduce the friction when it comes to traveling.

Speaker 2

有时,像免费Wi-Fi、延长五分钟登机时间这样的细微调整,长期来看能产生巨大影响。

And sometimes these very small tweaks like free Wi Fi, like a five minute extended boarding window make all the difference in the long run.

Speaker 1

我要说,假期期间我去过达拉斯沃斯堡,这辈子没见过那么多美国航空的飞机。

I will say I was at Dallas Fort Worth over over break, and I've never seen more American planes in my life.

Speaker 2

你说那是一次糟糕的体验。

And you said it was a bad experience.

Speaker 1

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

没错。

Was yeah.

Speaker 1

达拉斯沃斯堡机场有一个不错的航站楼,其余的都不怎么样。

There's Dallas Fort Worth, it has one good terminal and the rest are are not so great.

Speaker 1

但没错,我真的很震惊,因为这实际上是这个故事的另一个重要部分:美国航空在夏洛特和达拉斯拥有两个巨大的枢纽,这些枢纽服务美国内陆地区,同时也开通了通往拉丁美洲的国际航线。

But yeah, I was just shocked because here and that's actually another big part of this story is that American has two huge hubs, Charlotte and Dallas, which serve sort of the interior of The United States and also have these international routes down to Latin America.

Speaker 1

但它们在沿海地区却没有像旧金山或纽约那样的大型枢纽,而这些地方拥有通往欧洲和亚洲的利润丰厚的航线,所有航空公司都靠这些航线赚钱。

But they don't have those big hubs on the coast like in San Francisco or New York, which have these very lucrative routes to Europe and Asia where all the airlines are making their money.

Speaker 1

因此,如果你想从达拉斯飞往威奇托,美国航空绝对能搞定;但如果你想从旧金山飞往悉尼,或从纽约飞往瑞士,它们在这方面就不太擅长,处理这些航线的能力稍显不足。

And so while if you wanna go from Dallas to Wichita, like, American absolutely has you covered, but if you wanted to go from San Francisco to Sydney or New York to Switzerland, they are less, you know, they're a little less equipped to handle those routes.

Speaker 1

所以没错,我真的很震惊,因为我以前从未去过美国中部地区,那里有美国航空这么庞大的枢纽,这家航空公司的规模真是巨大。

So yeah I was just shocked because I've just never been to the the middle of the country with those huge American hubs, and the scale of this airline is is massive.

Speaker 2

好的。

Alright.

Speaker 2

我们先休息一下,回来后讲一个关于乐高的故事。

We're gonna take a quick break and come back with a story about Legos.

Speaker 2

尼尔,我早上起床后的生活质量通过在Public上查看投资组合得到了很大改善。

Neil, my morning routine got a lot better just by checking my portfolio on public.

Speaker 1

我也是。

Same.

Speaker 1

在 Public 上,你可以构建一个包含股票、债券、期权、加密货币以及现在新增的生成式资产的多资产投资组合,这些生成式资产能让你通过人工智能将任何想法转化为可投资的指数。

On public, you can build a multi asset portfolio of stocks, bonds, options, crypto, and now generated assets, which allow you to turn any idea into an investable index with AI.

Speaker 2

从拥有高自由现金流的可再生能源公司,到年收入增长20%的半导体供应商,你只需输入任何提示,就能让人工智能为你工作。

From renewable energy companies with high free cash flow to semiconductor suppliers growing revenue 20% year over year, you can literally type any prompt and put the AI to work.

Speaker 1

然后,你只需点击几下即可投资。

Then you can invest in a few clicks.

Speaker 1

生成式资产就像拥有无限可能的ETF。

Generated assets are like ETFs with infinite possibilities.

Speaker 2

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 2

对于这个故事,我想让每个人都深呼吸一下,重新连接你内心的孩童。

For this story, I want everyone to take a deep breath and reconnect with your inner child.

Speaker 2

如果你和我一样,现在正坐在你的乐高积木前。

If you're like me, you're back in front of your Lego set right now.

Speaker 2

现在,想象一种新型的乐高积木,它的内部内置了完整的计算机芯片,能让积木发光并发出声音。

Now I want you to imagine a new type of Lego brick, one with a fully self contained computer brain inside that makes the brick light up and make noises.

Speaker 2

其实你不用想象,因为乐高已经推出了它所谓的首款智能积木,而且对此非常兴奋。

Well, you don't have to imagine it because LEGO is rolling out what it's calling its first ever smart brick, and it is very excited about it.

Speaker 2

该公司称,SmartBrick是自1978年乐高小人仔问世以来,乐高系统在玩法上最重要的进化。

The company calls the SmartBrick the most significant evolution in the Lego system in play since the introduction of the Lego minifigure back in 1978.

Speaker 2

内置在标准2x4积木中的计算机可以让这块积木发光并发出声音。

The computer inside the standard two by four brick can cause the piece to light up and make sounds.

Speaker 2

它配备了内部传感器,能够检测运动、倾斜和手势。

It has internal sensors that can detect movement, tilt, and gestures.

Speaker 2

它甚至配备了一个麦克风,不是用于录音,而是作为传感器输入。

It even has a microphone not for recording, but used as a sensor input.

Speaker 2

例如,你可以对着积木吹气来触发动作,比如熄灭灯光。

For example, you could blow on the brick to trigger an action like the extinguishing of the light.

Speaker 2

目标是将乐高从容易踩到时很疼的静态雕塑,转变为能活起来、让玩耍更具互动性的套装。

The goal is to turn Legos from static sculptures that really hurt to step on to sets that come to life and make play a lot more interactive.

Speaker 2

如果你是个《星球大战》迷,想象一下会发光的光剑、会亮起的超空间引擎,以及发出‘砰砰’声的爆能枪。

If you're a Star Wars nerd, think lightsabers that hyperdrives that light up, and blasters that go pew pew.

Speaker 2

尼尔,你想要会发出‘呼呼’和‘砰砰’声的乐高吗?

Neil, you want Legos that go whoosh whoosh and pew pew?

Speaker 2

我知道你想要。

I know you want that.

Speaker 1

我的意思是,我正试着想象这到底是什么样子,这真的就像我们小时候玩乐高或其他玩具时,自己会发出那些音效,比如‘砰砰砰’,就像我现在在模仿我的光剑声音一样。

I mean, I'm trying to envision what this actually looks like, and it really is bringing you know, when we played with Legos or any toys, you make those sound effects with yourself and you know go pew pew pew like here's I'm I'm making my my lightsaber sound right there.

Speaker 1

但乐高这样做很有趣,因为玩具行业在融入技术的过程中,此前曾经历过很多波折。去年我们还谈过一款新的AI泰迪熊,它竟然跟孩子谈论性与药物,还有其他许多联网玩具也受到了批评。

But it is interesting the way Lego is doing this because the toy industry shift to incorporate technology has had a lot of bumps before last year we talked about this new AI teddy bear that was talking about sex and pills to kids and there are all these other Internet connected toys that have been criticized.

Speaker 1

美泰曾与OpenAI合作。

Mattel had this partnership with OpenAI.

Speaker 1

他们原本计划共同发布AI连接玩具,但后来暂停了该项目,并表示2026年不会有新产品推出。

They were gonna release AI connected toys together, but actually they hit pause on that and said nothing's coming in 2026.

Speaker 1

乐高在不使用AI、不依赖屏幕、也不连接互联网的情况下实现了这一点。

LEGO is doing this without AI, without screens, without being connected to the internet.

Speaker 1

这种在非常模拟的积木中巧妙融入技术、不过度堆砌、把握好平衡的做法,显得非常用心。你知道,我甚至不确定这是否会成功,人们是否会接受,但这个想法确实很迷人。

Seems like this is a very thoughtful thing to infuse technology into their very analog bricks without sort of going overboard and and drawing that balance, which you know, knows, don't even know if this is gonna work and people will respond to it, it seems like a fascinating idea.

Speaker 2

是的。

Yeah.

Speaker 2

这其实是一个‘傻瓜式智能积木’。

It's really a dumb smart brick.

Speaker 2

他们正在解决其他AI玩具曾遭遇的隐私问题。

Like they are addressing these privacy concerns that other AI enabled toys have run into.

Speaker 2

所以我认为你说得对。

So I think you are right.

Speaker 2

很显然,亮灯和发出声音并不一定是最具革命性的功能。

It's very intentional that, you know, lighting up and making a sound is not necessarily the most revolutionary thing.

Speaker 2

对于乐高来说,过去他们的产品非常静态,但你完全正确,他们正在努力在连接玩具这个领域找到平衡点。

For Lego, is because they used to be very static, but you are totally right that they're trying to thread the needle here when it comes to connected toys.

Speaker 2

不过,一些使用场景确实引发了一些批评,因为你一开始提到的,我们过去玩的时候是用嘴巴发出这些声音,有人认为这会削弱孩子的创造力、好奇心,以及他们为自己游戏环境赋予个性的能力。

Some of the use cases though have drawn some criticism because the point that you started with that we used to make these sounds with our mouths as we were playing with it, some are like, you're taking away from children's creativity, their curiosity, their ability to, you know, put their own say over their play environments.

Speaker 2

现在你却要说,是积木本身在发出声音。

Now you're gonna say that the bricks itself are making the sound.

Speaker 2

因此,这方面确实引发了一些反对声音,但有些使用场景真的非常酷。

So there has been a little bit of pushback from that, but some of the use cases are really freaking cool.

Speaker 2

我最喜欢的一个是,它们形成了一个蓝牙网状网络,这意味着它们可以检测自己与其他智能积木的相对位置。

The one that I love is that they form a Bluetooth mesh network, so that means that they can detect their position in relation to other Smart Bricks.

Speaker 2

因此,你可以追踪比赛中车辆的胜负。

So you can track winning vehicles in a race.

Speaker 2

比如,如果你让搭载智能积木的汽车冲过终点线,就能知道哪辆车赢了,这能解决很多兄弟姐妹之间的争执。

Like if you sent the SmartBrick enabled cars across the finish line, could see which car won, which would, you know, solve a lot of arguments among siblings.

Speaker 2

不,我的车先到的。

Like, no, my car got there first.

Speaker 2

他们实际上还用了照片冲印技术,我觉得如果你小时候玩乐高,这会非常有趣。

They actually have like photo finishing technology, which I think would just be really fun if you were growing up playing with Legos.

Speaker 1

这或许能缓解对乐高的另一种批评,即它过于依赖面向成人的复杂套装,而这种方式可以表明:嘿,我们依然为孩子们服务。

And it might be a way to assuage criticism another criticism of LEGO, is that it's relying too much on these very elaborate sets for adults, and this would be a way to say, hey, we're still for the kids.

Speaker 1

因为我不知道你有没有留意过最近乐高套装的价格以及它们包含的零件数量,但现在最贵的乐高套装售价约为一千美元。

Because I don't know if you've seen how much LEGO sets cost lately and how many pieces they have, but they're the most expensive LEGO set now retails for about a thousand dollars.

Speaker 1

这是一个死星的收藏系列。

It's a collector series of the Death Star.

Speaker 1

它有数千个零件。

It has thousands of pieces.

Speaker 1

根据乐高出版物Brick Tap的消息,乐高即将在今年夏天发布一款新的《指环王》套装。

And then according to Brick Tap, which is a a Lego a Lego publication, Lego is about to release a new Lord of the Rings set this summer.

Speaker 1

它的定价将在600到650美元之间。

It's gonna be priced between 600 and $650.

Speaker 1

它将包含8278个零件,取自《指环王》的米那斯提力斯。

It's gonna have 8,278 pieces, and it's minus Tirith from the Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 1

这些不是给孩子们玩的,这些都是给成年人的。

These are things that you don't these are for adults.

Speaker 1

你不是去玩它们。

You don't play with them.

Speaker 1

你把它们拼出来,然后摆在架子上,向所有成年朋友和千禧一代的朋友炫耀:嘿,我还在玩乐高。

You build them, and then you put it on your shelf in order to show off to all your adult and other millennial friends that like, hey, I still do LEGO.

Speaker 1

所以也许乐高是在说:我们听到了,我们不只是为成年人设计的。

So maybe this is LEGOs saying we hear you, we're not just for adults.

Speaker 1

但显然,如果孩子们喜欢,他们肯定会继续主打成年人市场,因为这是玩具行业最大的趋势。

But obviously they say if this goes well with kids, we're absolutely going with adults because that is the biggest trend in the toy industry.

Speaker 2

好吧。

Alright.

Speaker 2

让我们用一些最后的新闻标题来快速收尾。

Let's sprint to the finish with some final headlines.

Speaker 2

Meta面临着一个问题。

Meta has a problem on their hands.

Speaker 2

人们太喜欢他们的AI智能眼镜了。

People like their AI smart glasses a little too much.

Speaker 2

由于Meta根本没有足够的库存来满足国内市场,原计划今年在加拿大和欧洲等地推出这款热门眼镜的计划已被搁置。

Plans to launch the popular glasses abroad in places like Canada and Europe this year are now on hold because Meta simply doesn't have enough inventory to satisfy the domestic market.

Speaker 2

请记住,这些眼镜是与奥克利和雷朋母公司合作推出的,外观看起来像普通的时尚镜框,但可以拍照、录像并连接到AI助手。

Remember, these are a collab with the parent company behind Oakley and Ray Bans, so they look like normal stylist frames, but they can take photos and videos and connect to an AI assistant.

Speaker 2

随着Beta进一步进军AI可穿戴设备,再也没有比供不应求更好的需求信号了。

As Beta pushes further into AI wearables, it's hard to imagine a better signal of demand than running out of supply.

Speaker 1

接下来,你有没有吃过麦乐鸡块,然后心里想:等等,这根本不是鸡块。

Up next, have you ever been into a McRib and thought to yourself, hey, wait a second.

Speaker 1

那根本不是肋排。

That's not a rib.

Speaker 1

一些人正试图对此采取行动。

Some folks are trying to do something about it.

Speaker 1

上个月提起的一起诉讼指控麦当劳在宣传其受欢迎的麦旋风汉堡时误导了顾客,这款汉堡在限时回归时总是引起巨大关注。

A suit filed last month is accusing McDonald's of misleading customers when it comes to its McRib, the popular sandwich that arrives to great fanfare when it pops up on menus for limited time runs.

Speaker 1

在寻求集体诉讼资格的诉状中,原告声称麦当劳将麦旋风命名为一种‘刻意的障眼法’,故意欺骗那些合理但错误地认为名为‘麦旋风’的产品至少包含一些真正猪肋肉的顾客,而真正的猪肋肉在市场上价格昂贵。

In a suit seeking class action status, plaintiffs alleged that McDonald's named its McRib as a, quote, deliberate sleight of hand that knowingly deceives reasonable customers who reasonably, but mistakenly believe that a product named the McRib would include at least some meaningful quality of actual pork rib meat, which commands a premium price on the market.

Speaker 1

麦当劳回应称,它根本没有这样做,声称其麦旋风的基础成分是100%调味无骨猪肉,不含任何低品质肉类,诉讼却暗示了这一点。

McDonald's has responded that it does nothing of the sort, claiming that its McRib has a base of 100% seasoned boneless pork with none of the lower quality meats, the lawsuit suggests.

Speaker 1

这家公司的说法歪曲了事实,许多指控都是不准确的。

This lawsuit distorts the facts, and many of the claims are inaccurate.

Speaker 1

公司表示:‘我个人认为,在亲自尝过之前,我无法对此发表意见。’

The company said, personally, don't think I can weigh in until I've had one.

Speaker 2

顺便说一句,诉讼中提到的麦旋风里那些低品质肉类,会彻底毁掉你的食欲。

By the way, the lower quality meats that the lawsuits say is in the McRiv, it's gonna ruin your appetite.

Speaker 2

它是

It's

Speaker 1

基本上,等等。

basically Wait.

Speaker 1

所以所以是

So so are

Speaker 2

你要说吗?

you gonna say it?

Speaker 2

我要说了。

I'm gonna say it.

Speaker 1

好的。

Okay.

Speaker 1

确保你面前别放一 Bowl 食物。

Make sure you don't you don't have a a bowl of food in front of me.

Speaker 2

他们声称它含有像心胃这样的成分,我以为那是种鱼。

They are alleging that it contains products like heart tripe, which I thought was a fish.

Speaker 2

实际上,那是肠壁和烫过的胃,被压成肋排形状的肉饼。

It's actually intestinal lining and scalded stomach formed into a rib shaped patty.

Speaker 1

天哪。

Yeesh.

Speaker 1

哎呀。

Yeesh.

Speaker 1

嗯。

Yeah.

Speaker 1

难怪麦当劳在试图抵制

No wonder McDonald's is trying to push back

Speaker 2

我想,麦当劳的烫胃产品听起来没有麦旋风那么吸引人。

I guess on the the Mick's scalded stomach doesn't have as good of a ring as the McRib does.

Speaker 2

最后,ESPN整理了一份今年各大体育博彩公司最佳博彩赢局的清单,以防你今年输得太惨还想再难过一下。

Finally, ESPN compiled a list of the best gambling wins of the year across various sportsbooks in case you wanted to feel even worse about your performance this year.

Speaker 2

今年年初,一位DraftKings的投注者在1月9日成功组合了一套19场大学篮球串关,赔率高达4347万比1。

The year started off hot when a DraftKings better put together a 19 leg college basketball parlay on January 9 That was 43,473,946 to one long shot.

Speaker 2

当然,它中了,当然,他只下了50美分。

Of course, it hit, and, of course, they only put 50¢ on it.

Speaker 2

尼尔,你会喜欢这个的。

Neil, you'll like this one.

Speaker 2

教皇去世后,人们开始大量下注在尼克·卡西亚诺斯身上,他总是在重大新闻发生时打出本垒打。

After the pope died, bets started pouring in on Nick Casianos who tends to homer when major news happens.

Speaker 2

根据ESPN报道,到当天结束时,下注在费城人队外野手卡西亚诺斯打出本垒打的赌注,超过了所有其他球队或球员在所有体育项目中的总和。

According to ESPN, by the end of the day, more bets have been placed on the Phillies outfielder to homer than there were on any other team or any player in all of sports.

Speaker 2

尼克·卡西亚诺斯随即四打数无安打。

Nick Casianos promptly went o for four.

Speaker 2

最后,来个更暖心的故事:当传奇的大学比赛日人物李·科索在结束他三十八个赛季的生涯时,做出他最后五次预测,跟随他下注的彩民以10美元的投注赢了1300美元。

Finally, for a more feel good story, when the legendary college game day personality Lee Corso made his final five picks to cap off his thirty eight season run, bettors who tailed him cashed the tune of $1,300 on a $10 bet.

Speaker 2

尼尔,博彩公司这一年过得不错,但一些彩民也赚得不错。

Neil, sportsbooks kind of had a good year, but also some bettors did alright themselves.

Speaker 1

这是我最喜欢的其中一个。

Here's my favorite one.

Speaker 1

在大学橄榄球赛季开始前,北卡罗来纳大学——北卡罗来纳塔尔海因队——聘请了比尔·贝利奇克,并与他签下了一份年薪一千万美元的合同。

Entering the college football season, North Carolina, University of North Carolina, the Tarheels, they brought in Bill Belichick, signed him to a $10,000,000 a year contract.

Speaker 1

他是爱国者队的传奇教练,曾带领球队赢得众多超级碗。

He's a legendary coach of the Patriots, won a ton of Super Bowls with them.

Speaker 1

人们以为他们这个赛季会表现不错。

People thought they were gonna do well this season.

Speaker 1

他们在BetMGM体育博彩上的夺冠投注金额,与印第安纳大学一样多。

They attracted the same amount of money in bets to win the national championship as Indiana on BetMGM Sportsbooks.

Speaker 1

印第安纳大学是整个大学橄榄球赛季的灰姑娘故事。

Now Indiana is the Cinderella story of the entire college football season.

Speaker 1

他们保持不败。

They are undefeated.

Speaker 1

他们拥有海斯曼奖得主,并且进入了大学橄榄球半决赛。

They have the Heisman Trophy winner, and they're in the college football semifinals.

Speaker 1

但比尔·贝利奇克带领的北卡罗来纳队表现不佳,尽管他们的投注金额与印第安纳队相同。

But Bill Belichick's Tar Heels did not do as well even though they attracted the same amount of bets as the Hoosiers.

Speaker 1

他们战绩是四胜八负,教堂山的形势并不乐观。

They went four and eight, and things are not so great in Chapel Hill.

Speaker 1

好了。

Alright.
