We are reading Revelation two John chapter eighteen, nineteen, and 20, the letter to the Hebrews chapters nine and ten, as well as Proverbs chapter 31 verses 26 through 29.

《启示录》第18章：巴比伦的倾覆。

The Revelation to John chapter 18, the fall of Babylon.

此后，我看见另一位天使从天而降，拥有极大的权柄，大地因他的荣耀而明亮。

After this, I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his splendor.

他用强有力的声音喊道：‘巴比伦大城倾倒了，倾倒了！’

And he called out with a mighty voice, fallen, fallen is Babylon the great.

它已成为鬼魔的居所，各样污秽之灵的巢穴，各样污秽可憎之鸟的栖身之所。

It has become a dwelling place of demons, a haunt of every foul spirit, a haunt of every foul and hateful bird.

因为列国都喝了她淫乱的酒。

For all nations have drunk the wine of her impure passion.

地上的君王曾与她行淫，地上的商人也因她奢靡的生活而致富。

And the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich with the wealth of her wantonness.

我又听见从天上有声音说：我的百姓啊，你们要从她里面出来，免得与她一同有罪，受她所受的灾殃。

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues.

因为她的罪恶滔天，上帝已经记念她的不义。

For her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.

她怎样待人，也要怎样待她，按她所行的加倍报应她。

Render to her as she herself has rendered, and repay her double for her deeds.

她怎样调混杯中的酒，也要照样调混双倍的给她喝，因为她自夸、放荡。

Mix a double draft for her in the cup she mixed, as she glorified herself and played the wanton.

所以，要给她同样的痛苦和哀伤，因为她心里说：我坐在这里是女王，我不是寡妇，绝不会看到哀伤。

So give her a like measure of torment and mourning, since in her heart she says, A queen I sit, I am no widow, mourning I shall never see.

所以，她的灾殃必在一日之内临到：瘟疫、哀伤、饥荒，她必被火焚烧。

So shall her plagues come in a single day, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she shall be burned with fire.

因为审判她的主上帝大有能力。

For mighty is the Lord God who judges her.

与她行淫、放纵情欲的地上众王，看见她焚烧的烟，必为她哀哭痛恨。

And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and were wanton with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning.

他们必远远地站着，惧怕她的刑罚，说：‘哀哉，哀哉！这大城啊，这坚固的城啊，巴比伦啊！’

They will stand far off in fear of her torment and say, Alas, alas, you great city, you mighty city Babylon!

你的审判在一时之间就临到了。

In one hour has your judgment come.

地上经商的人为她哀哭痛恨，因为没有人再买他们的货物了——这货物就是金、银、宝石、珍珠、细麻布、紫色料、丝绸、朱红色料、各样香木、各样象牙器具、各样极贵的木器、铜、铁、大理石、肉桂、豆蔻、香料、乳香、没药、酒、油、细面、麦子、牛羊、马车和奴仆，就是人的灵魂。

And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, cargo of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, all articles of ivory, all articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots and slaves, that is, human souls.

你灵魂所贪恋的果子离开了你，你一切的珍馐美味和华美都从你那里消逝，再也不能寻见了。

The fruit for which your soul longed has gone from you, and all your delicacies and your splendor are lost to you, never to be found again.

贩卖这些货物、从中得利的商人，必远远地站着，惧怕她的刑罚，哀哭痛喊：‘哀哉，哀哉！这大城啊，曾穿细麻、紫色、朱红色的衣服，用金子、宝石和珍珠装饰！’

The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud, alas, alas for the great city that was clothed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, adorned with gold, with jewels, and with pearls.

在一时之间，这一切财富都化为乌有了。

In one hour all this wealth has been laid waste.

所有船主、水手、水手长以及所有在海上经商的人，都远远地站着，看见她焚烧的烟，就喊着说：‘有何城能与这大城相比？’

And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors, and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off, and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning, What city was like the great city?

And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out, Alas, alas for the great city, where all who had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth.

In one hour she has been laid waste.

天哪，众圣徒、众使徒、众先知啊，你们都要因她欢喜，因为上帝已经为你们向她施行了审判。

Rejoice over her, O heaven, O saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her.

于是，一位大力的天使举起一块石头，好像大磨石，扔进海里，说：‘巴比伦大城也必这样被猛烈地扔下去，再也找不到了。’

Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, So shall Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and shall be found no more.

在你那里，再也听不见弹琴、奏乐、吹笛、吹号的声音。

And the sound of harpists and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters, shall be heard in you no more.

在你那里，再也找不到任何工匠，也听不见磨石的声音，灯的光也再不会照耀你。

And the craftsman of any craft shall be found in you no more, and the sound of the millstone shall be heard in you no more, and the light of a lamp shall shine in you no more.

在你那里，再也听不见新郎和新娘的声音。

And the voice of the bridegroom and bride shall be heard in you no more.

因为地上的列王都曾与你行淫，地上的商人也因你的邪术而受迷惑。

For your merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.

在她里面发现了先知、圣徒和地上所有被杀之人的血。

And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who have been slain on earth.

第19章。

Chapter 19.

天上的欢喜。

The Rejoicing in Heaven.

此后，我听见好像群众在天上大声说：哈利路亚！

After this, I heard what seemed to be the mighty voice of a great multitude in heaven crying, Hallelujah!

救恩、荣耀、权能都属乎我们的神，因为祂的审判真实公义。

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for His judgments are true and just.

祂已经审判了那用淫乱败坏全地的大淫妇，并且为祂的仆人向她报仇。

He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants.

他们再次喊着说：哈利路亚！她的烟往上冒，直到永永远远。

Once more they cried, Hallelujah, the smoke from her goes up forever and ever.

二十四位长老和四个活物就俯伏敬拜坐宝座的神，说：阿们，哈利路亚！

And the 24 elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God, who was seated on the throne saying, Amen, Hallelujah.

有声音从宝座中出来，说：神的众仆人哪，凡敬畏祂的，无论大小，都要赞美我们的神！

And from the throne came a voice crying, praise our God, all you His servants, you who fear Him small and great.

我听见好像群众的大声音，又像大水的响声，也像雷声的轰鸣，说：哈利路亚！因为主我们的神，全能者作王了。

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunder peels crying, Hallelujah, for the Lord our God, the Almighty reigns.

我们要欢喜快乐，将荣耀归给祂，因为羔羊的婚期到了，新妇也自己预备好了。

Let us rejoice and exalt and give him the glory for the marriage of the lamb has come and his bride has made herself ready.

有赐给她穿上明亮洁净的细麻衣，这细麻衣就是圣徒的义行。

It was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure, for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

天使对我说：你要写上，凡被请赴羔羊婚筵的有福了！

And the angel said to me, write this, blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the lamb.

他又对我说：这是神真实的话。

And he said to me, these are true words of God.

我就俯伏在他脚前要拜他，他说：千万不可！

Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, you must not do that.

我和你们，并你们那些持有耶稣见证的弟兄，同是仆人。

I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus.

当敬拜神。

Worship God.

因为耶稣的见证就是预言的灵。

For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

骑白马者：我看见天开了，看哪，有一匹白马。

The Rider on the White Horse Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse.

坐在这马上的名叫忠信真实，祂以公义审判和争战。

He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

祂的眼睛如同火焰，头上戴着许多冠冕，祂有一个名字，除了祂自己，无人知道。

His eyes are like flames of fire, and on His head are many diatoms, and He has a name inscribed which no one knows but Himself.

祂穿着溅了血的外袍，祂的名字称为神的道。

He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is the Word of God.

天上的众军，穿着细麻衣，又白又洁，骑着白马跟随祂。

And the armies of heaven wearing fine linen, white and pure, followed him on white horses.

从他口中出来一把利剑，用以击打列国，他必用铁杖辖管他们。

From his mouth issues a sharp sword with which to strike the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.

他要踹全能神烈怒的酒榨。

He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.

在他衣服和大腿上有名写着：万王之王，万主之主。

On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

兽和它的军队被击败。

The beast and its armies defeated.

我看见一位天使站在太阳上，大声呼唤飞在天空中的所有鸟类：‘你们来吧，赴神的大筵席，吃君王的肉、将军的肉、勇士的肉、马和骑马者的肉，以及所有人的肉，无论自由的、为奴的、卑微的、尊大的。’

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly in mid heaven, Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.

我看见那兽和地上的众王，以及他们的军队，聚集起来要与那骑马者和他的军队争战。

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who sits upon the horse and against his army.

兽被捉住了，那在兽面前行过奇事、迷惑那些领受兽印记并敬拜兽像的人，也一同被捉住。

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet, who in its presence had worked the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and who worshipped its image.

这两个人被活活地扔进燃烧着硫磺的火湖里，其余的都被骑在马上的那位口中的剑杀灭，飞鸟都吃饱了他们的肉。

These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with brimstone, and the rest were slain by the sword of him who sits upon the horse, the sword that issues from his mouth and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

第二十章，一千年。

Chapter 20, The Thousand Years.

我看见一位天使从天而降，手里拿着无底坑的钥匙和一条大链子。

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain.

他捉住那龙，就是古蛇，又叫魔鬼，也叫撒但，把它捆绑一千年，

And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were ended.

以后必须暂时释放它。

After that, he must be let out for a little while.

我看见几个宝座，有坐在上面的，得了审判的权柄。

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed.

我还看见那些为耶稣的见证和神的道被斩首之人的灵魂，他们没有拜过兽或兽像，也没有在额上或手上受过它的印记。

Also, I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.

他们复活了，与基督一同作王一千年。

They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

其余的死人还没有复活，直等到那一千年完了。

The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.

这是第一次复活。

This is the first resurrection.

有份于第一次复活的人有福了，圣洁了。

Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection.

对于他们，第二次的死没有权柄；他们必作神和基督的祭司，并要与他一同作王一千年。

Over such, the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him a thousand years.

撒旦的结局：千年后，撒旦将从监牢中被释放，出来迷惑地上四方的列国，就是歌革和玛各，叫他们聚集争战。

Satan's Doom And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations which are at the four corners of the earth, that is Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle.

他们的数目多如海沙，他们上来遍满了全地，围住了圣徒的营与蒙爱的城。

Their number is like the sand of the sea, and they marched up over the broad earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city.

就有火从天降下，烧灭了他们；那迷惑他们的魔鬼被扔在硫磺的火湖里，就是兽和假先知所在的地方，他们必昼夜受痛苦，直到永永远远。

But fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

死人受审判。

The dead are judged.

我看见一个白色的大宝座和坐在上面的那位。

Then I saw a white throne and him who sat upon it.

从他面前，天地都逃跑了，再也找不到它们的地方。

From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.

我看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前，案卷都展开了。

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.

又有一卷书，就是生命册，也展开了。

Also another book was opened, which is the book of life.

死人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照他们所行的受审判。

And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.

海交出其中的死人，死亡和阴间也交出其中的死人，他们都照各人所行的受审判。

And the sea gave up the dead in it, death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done.

于是，死亡和阴间也被扔进火湖里。

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.

这就是第二次的死，就是火湖。

This is the second death, the lake of fire.

若有人名字没记在生命册上，他就被扔进火湖里。

And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

希伯来书第九章。

The Letter to the Hebrews, chapter nine.

地上的圣所与天上的圣所。

The Earthly and the Heavenly Sanctuary.

原来前约也有敬拜的条例和属世界的圣所。

Now, even the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly sanctuary.

因为有预备的帐幕，第一层叫作圣所，里面有灯台、桌子和陈设饼。

For a tent was prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of offering.

这叫做圣所。

It is called the Holy Place.

第二层帐幕叫作至圣所，有金香坛和周围包金的约柜，柜里盛着有吗哪的金罐、亚伦发过芽的杖和两块约版。

Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy Of Holies, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, which contained a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant.

柜上面有荣耀的基路伯遮掩着施恩座。

Above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat.

这些事现在不能一一细说了。

Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

这些预备工作既已完成，祭司就常常进入外帐，履行他们的礼仪职责。

These preparations having thus been made, the priests go continually into the outer tent performing their ritual duties.

但只有大祭司才能进入第二层帐幕，而且每年只进去一次，并且必须带着血，为他自己和人民的过失献上。

But into the second, only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people.

圣灵借此表明，只要外帐仍然存在，通往至圣所的路就尚未开通，这象征着现今的时代。

By this, the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the sanctuary is not yet opened as long as the outer tent is still standing, which is symbolic for the present age.

按照这种安排，所献的礼物和祭物都不能使敬拜者良心完全，而只涉及饮食和各种洗礼，这些是暂时的规条，直到改革的时候。

According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot perfect the conscience of the worshipper but deal only with food and drink and various baptisms, regulations for the body imposed until the time of Reformation.

但基督已经作为美事的大祭司来临，祂经过更大、更完美的帐幕，不是人手所造，也不是受造之物，祂一次进入圣所，不是用山羊和牛犊的血，而是用自己的血，获得了永恒的救赎。

But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent, not made with hands that is not of this creation, he entered once for all into the holy place, taking not the blood of goats and calves, but His own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

如果用山羊和公牛的血，以及母牛犊的灰，洒在不洁的人身上，尚且能使人肉体洁净，那么基督的血岂不更能洗净你们的良心，脱离死行，使你们事奉永生的神吗？

For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

因此，祂是新约的中保，使那些蒙召的人得着所应许的永恒产业，因为祂的死赎了人在第一约之下所犯的罪。

Therefore, He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.

因为有遗命的地方，必须等到立遗命的人死后才能生效。

For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it is established.

因为遗命只有在人死亡后才生效，只要立遗命的人还活着，遗命就不起作用。

For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not enforced as long as the one who made it is alive.

因此，就连第一个约也是没有血就无法确立的。

Hence, even the first covenant was not ratified without blood.

当摩西向众百姓宣告了律法的每一条诫命后，他用牛犊和山羊的血，连同水、朱红色羊毛和牛膝草，洒在律法书上和所有百姓身上，说：‘这是上帝吩咐你们的立约之血。’

For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, this is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.

他同样用血洒了帐幕和所有用于敬拜的器皿。

And in the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.

事实上，按照律法，几乎万物都是用血洁净的，若不流血，就没有赦罪。

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

基督的献祭除去了罪。

Christ's sacrifice takes away sin.

因此，天上的事物的副本必须用这些礼仪洁净，但天上的事物本身则要用比这些更美的祭物来洁净。

Thus, it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

因为基督不是进了人手所造的圣所，那不过是真圣所的影子，而是进了天堂本身，如今为我们显在神面前。

For Christ has entered, not into a sanctuary made with hands, a copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

也不是为了多次将自己献上，像大祭司每年带着不是自己的血进入圣所一样；如果这样，他从创世以来就必须多次受苦了。

Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly as the high priest enters the holy place yearly with blood not his own, for then he would have to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world.

但如今，他在这末世显现一次，藉着自己将罪除去。

But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

正如人所定的，人只死一次，之后就是审判；基督也是如此，既然一次献上，担当了多人的罪，将来必再次显现，不是为除罪，而是为拯救那些热切等候他的人。

And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.

第十章。

CHAPTER 10.

基督一次献上的祭。

CHRIST'S SACRIFICE ONCE FOR ALL.

因为律法只是将来美事的影子，不是本体的真像，所以它永远不能藉着每年不断献上的同样祭物，使那些前来敬拜的人得以完全。

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect to those who draw near.

否则，这些祭物岂不早已停止献上了吗？

Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered?

因为敬拜的人若一次被洁净，就不再有罪的意识了。

If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness of sin.

但在这些祭物中，每年都有人想起罪来。

But in these sacrifices, there is a reminder of sin year after year.

因为公牛和山羊的血断不能除罪。

For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

所以，基督到世上来的时候，就说：祭物和礼物是你不愿意的，你曾给我预备了身体。

Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body you have prepared for me.

燔祭和赎罪祭是你不喜欢的。

In burnt offerings and sin offerings, you have taken no pleasure.

于是我说：神啊，我来了，为要照你的旨意行；我的事在经卷上已经记载了。

Then I said, Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the roll of the book.

前面说：你不愿意，也不喜悦祭物和礼物，并燔祭和赎罪祭，这些都是按着律法献的；后来又说：我来了，为要照你的旨意行。

When he said above, You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings, these are offered according to the law, then he added, Behold, I have come to do your will.

他除去那先有的，为要立定那后来的；我们凭这旨意，靠耶稣基督只一次献上他的身体，就得以成圣。

He abolishes the first in order to establish the second, and by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

凡祭司天天站着侍奉神，屡次献上一样的祭物，这祭物永不能除罪。

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices which can never take away sins.

但基督献了一次永远的赎罪祭，就在神的右边坐下了，从此等候他的仇敌成为他的脚凳。

But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, then to wait until his enemies should be made a stool for his feet.

因为他一次献祭，便叫那得以成圣的人永远完全。

For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

圣灵也对我们作见证，因为他先前说：‘主说，那些日子以后，我与他们所立的约乃是这样：我要将我的律法放在他们心里，写在他们的思想上。’

And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us, for after saying, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,' says the Lord, I will put my laws on their hearts and write them on their minds.

Then he adds, I will remember their sins and their misdeeds no more.

这些罪既已得赦免，就不再需要为罪献祭了。

Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

A call to persevere.

所以弟兄们，我们既然靠着耶稣的血得以坦然进入至圣所，是借着他给我们开了一条又新又活的路，从幔子经过，这幔子就是他的身体；又既然我们有一位大祭司治理神的家，就当存着诚心和充足的信心来到神面前，我们的良心已经被洒过，脱去了邪恶的意识，我们的身体也用清水洗净了。

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain that is through his flesh, And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

我们要坚守所承认的指望，不至摇动，因为那应许我们的是信实的。

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

我们要彼此相顾，激发爱心，勉励行善，不可停止聚会，像那些停止惯了的人，倒要彼此劝勉，既知道那日子临近，就更当如此。

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire which will consume the adversaries.

凡干犯摩西律法的，凭两三个见证人，尚且不得怜恤而死。

A man who has violated the law of Moses dies without mercy at the testimony of two or three witnesses.

何况人践踏神的儿子，将那使他成圣之约的血当作平常，又亵慢施恩的圣灵，你们想，他要受的刑罚该怎样加重呢？

How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified and outraged the spirit of grace?

因为我们知道那位说：‘伸冤在我，我必报应。’

For we know him who said, vengeance is mine.

我必报应。

I will repay.

主又要审判他的百姓。

And again, the Lord will judge his people.

落在永生神的手里，真是可怕的。

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

但要回想从前的日子，那时你们蒙了光照，就忍受了苦难的激烈争战，有时当众受辱，有时遭患难，有时与那些如此受苦的人同受苦难。

But recall the former days when after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated.

因为你们同情了那些被囚禁的人，又欣然接受了财产被抢夺，因你们知道自己有更美长存的家业。

For you had compassion on the prisoners, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.

所以，不要丢弃你们的胆量，这胆量有大赏赐。

Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.

你们需要忍耐，好使你们行完神的旨意，得着所应许的。

For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised.

因为还有一点点时候，那要来的就来，并不迟延；我的义人必因信得生，他若退后，我心里就不喜欢他。

For yet a little while, and the coming one shall come and shall not tarry, but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and keep their souls.

The Book of Proverbs chapter 31 verses 26 through 29.

So Revelation getting intense, obviously, getting really intense.

Chapters eighteen, nineteen, and 20 here.

One of the things that comes up is the fall of Babylon, chapter 18.

And the term Babylon is used obviously a bunch of times, and so I'm just gonna offer you know, these books are so rich, they're so deep that ten minutes of commentary is not enough, obviously.

There's some incredible, incredible commentary books that are around.

In fact, there's there's one book of commentary called, the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, New Testament.

It's the second Catholic edition, you know, so that's good.

But it's really good because it has all the all the details, all the little notes can be so incredibly important and helpful, but they have a longer note about Babylon and what Babylon is.

In fact, one of the interesting notes they have when it comes to chapter 18 in the fall of Babylon is they note that several images and expressions in this chapter, chapter 18 here, are taken from the judgmental oracles of the prophets, Jeremiah's condemnation of ancient Babylon from Jeremiah fifteen fifty one.

So if you remember, and you do, the history of Babylon and history of the Babylonian exile, and evil Babylon.

There's all these connections with what happens here in chapter 18 and what Jeremiah had prophesied back in the book of the prophet Jeremiah, which is remarkable.

Now another guy, Saint Cesareas of Arles, he once said this.

He said, Babylon and the harlot, whose smoke goes up forever, are none other than the lustful, the adulterous, and the arrogant.

So he was saying he was making a a point, like, in a sermon, right, in a homily, that he was saying that it doesn't have to be a place, right, it doesn't have to be a city I'm talking about.

Now, John, in Revelation, is likely talking about a specific city, which we'll talk about in just a second.

But here is Saint, Caesarius of Orles who is saying that, listen, this can be in our own hearts.

Babylon and the harlot, he says, whose smoke goes up forever are none other than the lustful, the adulterous, and the arrogant.

So, if you wish to escape such punishments, have no desire to commit such grave sins.

For in the present age, Babylon is always going to destruction and burning up in part.

And really interesting and fascinating.

Now, question, of course, who or what is Babylon?

There are many theories, obviously.

And the two primary theories are that Babylon is a symbol of Rome or Babylon is a symbol of Jerusalem.

And there's an ancient oh my gosh, and there's so much evidence that it could be either.

And that's the crazy part is that here is Rome.

I mean, about all of the blood of the martyrs that the Roman Empire shed in those first centuries of Christianity, in the first decades of Christianity.

And at the same time, remember in the Old Testament, here is the way in which the prophets spoke about Jerusalem as being unfaithful, as being unresponsive to God's promises.

And there are a number of reasons that you could make a case for Rome being the Babylon or Jerusalem being Babylon.

And what that ultimately means, though for us, is it's important, right?

Obviously, it matters whether this is Rome or Jerusalem.

But what we're really talking about when you and I are reading Revelation, yes, we're reading something from the past.

We're reading about the Revelation of John of this judgment that came upon the ancient peoples.

But we're also reading about our own lives.

That's why Saint Cesareus of Arles had his words about pointing out that one of the reminders of revelation is for us, is that sense of am I being faithful?

Because God will judge us, right?

And yes, he's merciful, he's also just, and we're gonna hear tomorrow in our conclusion that God at some point will set everything right.

And and we want to be the people that he that he vindicates, right, that he that he sets right.

And so there's this praise of God rejoicing in heaven in chapter 19.

And that rejoicing where they say hallelujah, and that hallelujah literally means praise the Lord.

You know, and there's the, as I said, you know, there's the thousand years and Satan's locked up and then he's released for a little bit of time, and those are very important things.

But ultimately, we have this, this at the end of chapter 20, the dead are judged as it says, and there's a resurrection from the dead.

And those who are first resurrected are those who are martyrs, and they get to reign with the Lord, and they get to serve as priests with the Lord.

I don't know if you know this, you're getting your body back.

And there's that second death, the lake of fire.

If And anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Remember, it says multiple times they'll be judged by what they've done.

In chapter 20, verse twelve and thirteen, it says, And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.

Also another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.

海交出其中的死人，死亡和阴间也交出其中的死人，他们都照各人所行的受审判。

And the sea gave up the dead in it, death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done.

这就是现实：我们的选择至关重要。

And that's the reality, is that our decisions matter.

Our decisions make a difference.

They don't just echo in time, they also echo in eternity.

So we say, Lord, for all those things that I've done where I failed you, please cover me with your blood.

And that is Hebrews.

Oh my gosh, how incredible is this?

How incredible is it that yes, there's judgment, but here in the letter to the Hebrews we have this absolute declaration that Christ's blood takes away our sins.

Now here's an interesting part that's just, I don't know if you've ever noticed this, we have the celebration of Christmas, obviously, the Incarnation, Jesus Christ becomes one of us.

We have the celebration of the Passion and Easter.

So we have Good Friday and Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday for the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, which is incredible, and just how here's God's love for us.

But we also have the feast of the Ascension, and so many of us, we underestimate the Ascension.

And yet, here's what the Hebrews is all about.

It talks about the old covenant, right?

And here's the old temple, and here's what the priests would do.

Once in a year, they would go into the temple, and in that place, they would offer up the sacrifice of blood and goats, bowls and oats, that kind of thing.

But here is this absolute key in chapter nine, verse 11.

It says, But when Christ appeared as high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent, not made with hands, that is not of this creation, meaning, when He entered into heaven, he entered once for all into the holy place, not taking the blood of goats and calves, but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

祂刚才所描述的，天哪，正是升天的场景。

What he just described there, oh my gosh, is the ascension.

我有时会把升天误解为：耶稣升上天堂，对门徒和使徒们说：‘你们要等候应许的圣灵，它必降临在你们身上。’

I sometimes I sometimes get lost in the ascension as being, here's Jesus, you know, ascending to heaven and telling the disciples, the apostles, Hey, wait for the promised Holy Spirit and that will come upon you.

And that's it.

祂只是离开了。

He's just leaving.

但祂并不仅仅是离开。

But he wasn't just leaving.

他在做什么？

What was he doing?

他正在进入圣所。

He was entering into the sanctuary.

He was entering into heaven with the sacrifice of himself presented before God for the oh my gosh, this is insane!

Just like the priest would go into the Holy of Holies as Jesus ascends into heaven, He is the great High Priest entering into the actual Holy of Holies.

Remember, the Temple was made as a copy, as a foreshadow of what actually exists in reality in heaven.

当大祭司进入那个副本时，他带进去的是有限的东西。

When the high priest goes into that copy, he's bringing with him something that's limited.

但当耶稣基督——那位大祭司——进入天堂时，祂带去的是一次献上、永远有效的无限祭物。

But when Jesus Christ, the great high priest, entered into heaven, he brought a sacrifice that is unlimited, his one sacrifice once for all.
